Colvin House

George Maher's 1909 Prairie School mansion on Sheridan Road, bookable by the hour.

Why we picked itA Prairie School mansion by Frank Lloyd Wright's contemporary, rented by the hour.

Maher was a contemporary of Frank Lloyd Wright, and this 16-room, 6,000-square-foot house is one of his showpieces. It has three fireplaces, stained glass, adjoining sunrooms and a grand staircase under a crystal chandelier.

It sits on a third of an acre in Edgewater, with an arched porte-cochère and 10 parking spots. That makes it easy for a film crew or a 100-seat dinner. There's a five-hour minimum.
